Boyzone Singer Stephen Gatley Dies aged 33
Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has died while on holiday in Majorca, a message
on the band's tour website said today.
The Irish pop star and actor was on holiday with his long-term partner when he "tragically
died" yesterday, according to the website. "The rest of the boyz will be flying out today."
The circumstances surrounding Gately's death remained unclear but the
News of the World reported he died after a night out. Boyzone manager
Louis Walsh, who was due to appear as a judge on tonight's X Factor
results show, told the newspaper: "We're all absolutely devastated." He
said: "I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an
awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet. "I only
heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week.
He was a great man." Speaking to the newspaper last night, band member
Shane Lynch said: "Me and the boys are flying out in the morning.
Gately, who married his partner Andrew Cowles in a civil union in 2006, sent
ripples through the pop music world ten years ago when he announced that he
was gay. He joined Boyzone in 1993 after answering an advert in Dublin to audition for
Ireland's first boyband. The band went on to enjoy huge success with six number one singles, but split
up in 2000.

the most basic of errors. Read more:

Man charged over sleeping tourist attack in Darwin
A
MAN has been charged after he allegedly assulted a Korean backpacker
with she slept in her van in Darwin. Her friend, woken by the early
morning attack, jumped behind the wheel and drove off and then crashed
into another car at the Darwin waterfront.
The
attack prompted police to warn travellers to seek out accommodation in
backpacker hostels, motels or camping grounds, rather than pulling
their cars over on the side of the road.
"It
seems to be a common occurrence, and particularly they seek out
isolated areas around the fringes of town to do that," Supt Maloney
said. Read More
